Edinburgh Designs Ltd. has developed a range of user-friendly software for its wavemaking applications. Apart from software which enables a PC to control the wavemakers and analyse the spectra, EDL has developed further software to utilise the same computer to control:
- Tank power supply
- Pneumatics
- Tank safety features
Naturally, safety is paramount and all software controlled systems have manual emergency overrides.
Our aim is to extend product life by constantly supplying software upgrades when the need arises.
OCEAN Software
A user friendly software package called OCEAN developed by Edinburgh Designs enables a PC to run multi-spectral seas, perform demonstrations of special effect waves, and to collect and analyse incoming data from the waves. It has the following features:

The OCEAN interface
- Built in spectra including:
- Pierson Moskovitch
- ISSC
- JONSWAP
- Gaussian
- Bretschneider and Mitsuyasu
- Neumann
- Individual waves and spectra can be added, merged or focused
- Displays incoming data to a graphical interface on the screen and saves it to disk once requested
- Allows a single computer to synchronise wave generation, data collection and trigger external experimental rigs such as a model mounting robot
OCEAN consists of the OCEAN language, as well as a realtime software component called RUNTIME.
