Edinburgh Designs supplied wavemakers and a marine 3D towing beam for the University of Ulsan in Korea. The tank and building were manufactured by the Hyundai construction company. This 40 paddle, wide tank is a good example of the additional features that are typical of many of our wave tanks. The picture above shows the paddles (yellow), along one side of the tank. Each group of 10 paddles is operated by one control box, (3 of which are shown).

Additional Features

Deep water pit

A deep water pit is used for the testing of oil rigs and submersible structures.

3D towing beam 3D towing beam

A Four Axis 3D towing beam can be positioned anywhere in the tank to move a ship model in the x, y , z and theta directions. It can be directly controlled from the PC.

Ship model forced oscillator

A Ship Model forced oscillator is used for testing the dynamics of ship models. It is also controlled by the PC using the interface box shown.

Sloping beach

The sloping beach structure was designed by Edinburgh Designs and built by local students. This beach is fully adjustable and it can be easily removed. The towing rig is shown in the background.
